Let it be said that I am always intrigued at the release of another Urban Decay palette. I think they hold the market on brights and since the release of their Naked range, they’ve pretty much cornered the neutrals world. I still use Naked 1 on a weekly basis at least. So when I saw the promo pics for the Naked Basics palette…you guessed it, I was all ears.
This compact palette is exactly what it says – a totally basic selection of neutrals with 6 shades to carry you from morning to night. While there’s nothing particularly adventurous about this palette, the shades are super versatile and will suit most skin tones. I LOVE the size, there’s nothing over-packaged about it which makes it perfect for throwing in your bag. It’s a decent price point ($27) and the actual shades are matte (with the exception of one highlighting shade) so it’s right up my alley. If you’re looking for a simple, no frills palette, and don’t own a ton of neutrals already, I would say this little guy might just be perfect for you!

I have been mulling over whether to splurge on the Naked or Naked 2 palette for quite a while now. While I still plan to get one of them eventually, I think I will go for the Basic palette first. By the way, which one do you like best?
hmmm, well I don’t own Naked 2. I just couldn’t justify it since I already have the original. However, from what I understand/see, Naked 2 works best for those with cool undertones. I love the original, though, and haven’t found a person that it didn’t look great on! I think the Basic palette is a great starter if you’re looking for more matte shades but the others have the “fun” shimmery shades!
