Simple & Sweet: Valentine’s Day Gift Guide

As much as I hate all the commercial hype surrounding it, I have to admit, I love Valentine’s Day. Now, I don’t mean the typical, candlelit pasta dinner and a movie/piano lounge sort of Valentines date. Flowers and heart-shaped chocolates are great, but not really my style when it comes to having a happy heart day. To me, those things just mean some poor boy panicked and fell into the “ahhh..what do I do…it’s crunch time?? Flowers, check. Extravagant Gift, check.” category. Unless you’re a girl who loves those things and there’s nothing wrong with that. I’m just a weirdo.

Or maybe I’m just more of a low-key, let’s enjoy all the pink and red things and spend some quality time together kind of gal. As for gifts, my mind always turns toward the handmade or sentimental sort during this season. I did a little perusing over on Etsy and found a few things that made me go “awww”. If you need me to pass a little hint to your man, just let me know – I’m happy to help!

This little Cross Stitch from Ruggles Made put a grin on my face – who doesn’t like a good smooch! Perhaps you could get your sweetheart a tiny little monogrammed dish for their wedding ring (I really want to monogram everything these days). The “love you” nightlight has to be one of my favorite finds in a while. It would be perfect for a little one (although, I pretty much want it for myself at the moment). I’m currently obsessed with little initial rings like these (see: note on monogramming the world above). That vintage soap tin would be adorable filled with little notes or bath oils. If you do feel like giving a flower or two, arrange them in something special, a mod 60’s vintage vase or perhaps a set of mugs that you can use on your next coffee date.
