If you’re like me, you suck at keeping resolutions – if you’re brave enough to even make them in the first place. Welcome to your safe place, where it’s okay to admit we’re kind of commitment-phobes.
This year, I decided to lay down my good intentions and try something a bit different. Then I thought, “Heck, it’s 48 hours before the New Year, why don’t I create something we can ALL do together?” Because I like to live life on the wild side and create fancy programs the night before a holiday.
The HEART YOURSELF RESOLUTION is what I’m calling this thing. So what is it? Basically, instead of creating these lofty goals that you’ll be over in about 2.5 seconds (or however long it takes to figure out the treadmill buttons), I’m making life easy. This resolution is all about celebrating the blank page we’re given every morning and just taking tiny little steps THAT DAY to make sure we’re doing something with our lives. And being freaking kind to ourselves when things don’t go as planned!
Sounds cool, but how do you make sure you’re actually growing as a human? Well, I made you some fancy schmancy envelopes! This set of downloadable envelopes includes 3 themes that I think are super important for living a rad life. Because when you heart yourself, everything else tends to fall into place.
Over the next 30 days, do at least one thing each day that falls into the three categories – big or small. There are no rules. Then, write that thing out on a piece of paper and place it in the matching envelope. Obvs. I’m doing this right along with you, but my thought is that by the end of the week, you’ll have accomplished some pretty awesome things without exhausting yourself or trying too hard.
Here are the areas I’m focusing on:
THE HEALTH ENVELOPE. This little guy is all about becoming a stronger you. It’s not about signing up for crossfit (I’m not trying to workout in something called a “box”, sorry bro). This is about doing something every day that gets you moving, making good food choices, and just feeling better about your own body. It can be something totally different every day. It can be 5 minutes or 60. Remember, there are no rules. Just do something (even if it’s not feeling guilty for eating that cookie for breakfast – I’m not here to judge).
THE MIND ENVELOPE. Becoming mentally strong is something I really want to develop in my life. With so much going on in our world, the noise can get overwhelming. So often, instead of expanding my mind with intention, I find myself running down rabbit trails of useless information (I’m looking at you, Facebook). So these little moments you take to learn something new, meditate, or just generally think your own thoughts will hopefully bring some clarity into your life.
THE PURPOSE ENVELOPE. If you’ve ever wondered what the hay you’re supposed to do with your life, you’ll love this little pocket of joy. Each day, take a little time to make sure you’re doing one thing that truly matters. Follow your passion. Practice listening to your heart and letting it lead the way for a while. This is also where showing kindness to those you love comes into play – what can you do to make their day a great one? If faith is a part of your life, take a moment to tap into that.
IT’S STARTING MONDAY, JANUARY 4th. YOU SHOULD TOTALLY JOIN ME!
Last little thing. I made a ginormous list of ideas to help get your started. You can check them out here.
