So, if you happen to be a sucker for sweet, heavenly chocolate or you’re looking for a new bronzer that won’t make you look like an oompa loompa, I would say give this guy a try. Word of caution: you may be tempted to give this a little taste test! Also, it has a tendency to crumble…I learned this the hard way.

When I purchased the new Flower Zoom-In Ultimate mascara, it was solely based upon it’s rose gold exterior. I can’t help it. I’m a rose gold addict. Fortunately for me, this has turned into one of my favorite mascaras.

Shiny packaging aside, the formula of this mascara is almost gel like. At first I was concerned because the brush is of the plastic variety rather than actual bristles, which I tend to loathe. This wand is a bit different, however. The bristles are small and close enough together that you don’t feel like you’re stabbing yourself in the eye, even with the wand fully extended. Oh, right. Did I mention the wand has a twist action brush that allows you to build up an incredible amount of product with hardly any clumps? It can go from a typical brush to a spiral and, with another twist, an even tighter spiral that is great for adding volume.

I recommend applying one layer of mascara with the wand fully extended and then building up with the twist action for best results. I found this mascara super easy to apply and it doesn’t hurt my sensitive eyes. As far as running or smudging, I’ve had zero issues with either. Which is pretty impressive since my face is really feeling the effects of allergy season!

I bought this little duo around Thanksgiving to take with me while travelling and such. I’d heard some good reviews on the Skinny Brush Mascara, and thought I’d give it a whirl.

As far as the mascara goes, I was pleasantly surprised to find that while they don’t call it one, this is very similar to a tubing mascara. The difference is that it’s easier to build up the Skinny Brush variety and it does add a little volume as well as lengthening. I wouldn’t call it a full-on dramatic lashes mascara, but it definitely does the trick. It’s also super easy to remove – just use warm water!

According to the product description, the Skinny Brush mascara is supposed to be good for your lashes with it’s moisturizing formula featuring pro-vitamin B, natural oils, and waxes to prevent breakage and promote growth. I’m not sure about all that, but it doesn’t irritate my sensitive eyes and I had no problems with smudging or flaking.

I have since repurchased this mascara in the full size to use in my kit. I love how you can give the little tube a squeeze to get as much product on a disposable mascara wand as you like! I would recommend this mascara for those wanting natural looking, almost-waterproof lashes that hold a curl.

The eyeliner in this duo was a different story. I found the nib of the pen to be a little too thick for my liking. The formula (or at least on my eyeliner) was a little dry which caused it to drag a bit when applying. Beyond all of that, something in the liner made my eyes water, so applying it was not the most fun experience of my life. This may work for some, but sadly, I just don’t think it’s right for me.

As for gifts, my mind always turns toward the handmade or sentimental sort during this season. I did a little perusing over on Etsy and found a few things that made me go “awww”. This little Cross Stitch from Ruggles Made put a grin on my face – who doesn’t like a good smooch! Perhaps you could get your sweetheart a tiny little monogrammed dish for their wedding ring (I really want to monogram everything these days). The “love you” nightlight has to be one of my favorite finds in a while. It would be perfect for a little one (although, I pretty much want it for myself at the moment). I’m currently obsessed with little initial rings like these (see: note on monogramming the world above). That vintage soap tin would be adorable filled with little notes or bath oils. If you do feel like giving a flower or two, arrange them in something special, a mod 60′s vintage vase or perhaps a set of mugs that you can use on your next coffee date.
